Our program encourages participation for all students and offers a distinct opportunity to cultivate leadership qualities, develop essential sport skills and experience the spirit of competition.

We strive for personal fulfillment, while deepening integrity, resilience, and respect for oneself and others. Our athletic community celebrates and fosters a sense of belonging and a love of sport. Chapin’s commitment to excellence through a multi-faceted approach to athletics fortifies our students' ability to thrive and lead in their lives beyond 100 East End Avenue.

Students in Classes 9-12 may try out for any athletic team and those in Class 8 may try out if they pass the Athletic Placement Process (APP). The Junior Varsity and Varsity sports level commitment is 5 days a week with practice and games. Athletes must also commit to post-season play, which is an extension of the regular AAIS season. All Upper School students are welcome to apply for a team manager position at the start of each season. Students in Classes 10-12 may receive P.E. credit through this position.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in the Captains' Council, which brings together team captains from every Junior Varsity and Varsity sport. Overseen by the Director of Athletics and Assistant Athletic Director, the Council serves as a supportive platform for captains to connect across sports and seasons and provides an opportunity to interact in a different leadership capacity within the School.
