1. Chapin Academic Assessment: Applicants will take a Chapin admissions assessment in mathematics and English. Once your completed application has been submitted, you will receive an email from the Admissions Office with directions on how to sign up for an appointment.
2. Character Skills Snapshot (CSS): Chapin requires the CSS to be completed by applicants to Classes 8 and 9. The CSS is administered through the Enrollment Management Association. You may learn more about the CSS by clicking here.
3. Official School Reports: Chapin requires school reports from the last two years as well as the Fall 2020 school report. Directions on how to submit are provided through Ravenna once you have applied.
4. Example of Student Self-expression: Chapin values the varied gifts and talents of our students and our community seeks to provide a space where students' interests can be nurtured. The Admissions team invites each applicant to share one example of their own self-expression as an element of the admissions process. Whatever you choose should be a reflection of who you are and should not be a piece created solely for the purpose of admission. Our hope is that what you share will allow us to know you even better.
Examples of self-expression may include:
Written work: essay, poetry, short story, song, article
Video clip (no longer than 5 minutes): performance, speech, animation, athletics competition
Design/Projects: robotics design, computer program, artwork, photography, website
You should select one form of self-expression and must upload it through Ravenna. Please do not send any items to the Admissions Office.
5. Letters of Recommendation: Chapin requires a total of two letters of recommendation from current teachers: one English and one math. Recommendations provided by parents will not be accepted.
*All supporting application materials (including school reports and letters of recommendation) should be uploaded to your Ravenna account no later than January 7, 2022.
