Ellen Baylor earned her bachelor’s degree from Williams College with a double major in history and Spanish literature. She also earned two master’s degrees from Columbia University: one in secondary social studies education from Teachers College and one in United States history from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. She came to Chapin as an Upper School history teacher in 2000 and became the department head in 2005. A lifelong history student, Ms. Baylor adds to her knowledge through regular participation in learning opportunities, especially those through the New-York Historical Society and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
