Karey Boals earned her bachelor's degree in psychology at Ohio University and went on to complete two master's degrees in psychological counseling at Teachers College at Columbia University. She is particularly interested in the psychological development of adolescent girls and served as chair of an Upper School task force focused on resilience and mental well-being. She has also taught Adolescent Psychology and Neuroscience of Social Behavior in the Upper School for many years. As a college counselor for 26 years, she is an active member of the National Association of College Admission Counselors, both in the national and the New York State divisions, and the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools (ACCIS). Ms. Boals enjoys spending time with her family — especially with her three daughters — and she loves music and traveling. She came to Chapin in 1998.
