Michael Davis
Faculty Information
Michael Davis received his bachelor's degree from Duke University, his JD from the University of Pennsylvania and his master's degree in physical education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Since joining Chapin in 2000, Mr. Davis has taught physical education for grades K-12 and has coached Chapin soccer, basketball and track teams. He is currently the co-chair of the Physical Education Department, Head of Upper School PE, and the head coach of the varsity basketball and 5/6 soccer teams. During his tenure coaching Chapin basketball, Mr. Davis’ teams have won multiple Varsity and JV AAIS regular-season and post-season titles. In his six years coaching the Varsity, the team has won five AAIS regular season titles (including four undefeated AAIS seasons and an overall league record of 49-2), and three AAIS post-season tournament championships. Mr. Davis is the founder and director of the Chapin Gator Hoops basketball program, the Gator Kicks soccer program and the Gator Spikes volleyball program. For many summers, he was the Director of the Future Stars Basketball Camp at SUNY Purchase, in Purchase, NY. This past summer, Mr. Davis was a basketball coach at the Duke Women's Basketball Camp in Durham, NC.
