Ms. Thérèse Cruite
Thérèse Cruite completed her Montessori training at St. Nicholas College, Dublin. She earned her bachelor’s degree in educational studies at the State University of New York’s Empire State College and received her master’s degree in curriculum and teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University. Ms. Cruite began her teaching career in the preschool classroom and for over 18 years has taught at the Kindergarten, first, second and third grade levels. Before joining Chapin, she was instrumental in the creation of an elementary program for the Brooklyn Heights Montessori School where she served as the Dean of the Lower Elementary division. During her tenure as Dean, Ms. Cruite served on the admissions committee and was responsible for curriculum development and design. After serving as a head Kindergarten teacher at Chapin for three years, Ms. Cruite became Director of Lower School Admissions in 2005. She became the Head of Lower School in 2013.
