The Green and Gold Legacy

The Green and Gold Legacy

Eager anticipation radiated throughout Chapin’s Athletic Center on Friday, September 12 as Class 4 students gathered on the bleachers.

The screens overhead, surrounded by colorful streamers, read, “Welcome to the Class 4 Green/Gold Induction!” The girls cheered and stomped their feet, ready to join the ranks of Chapin’s Green and Gold teams. (Each year, Class 4 students receive their designated School color and remain a member of that team through their Chapin career and beyond.)

Decked out in a Green and Gold suit, Head of Middle School P.E. Greg Pinto grabbed a microphone and announced that their teachers were ready to begin. He also reminded the students that while the Green vs. Gold rivalry is an exciting part of the school experience, we are all part of one Chapin family.

With that, the first student’s name was called! She ran over to P.E. teacher Annie Ambrogio and snagged her new GREEN t-shirt. The next girl made her way to P.E. teacher Alex Holowach to secure her new GOLD tee. This process continued, with ample hugs and applause echoing throughout the gym, until the last student learned her team designation.

Several Class 4 faculty members and Head of Middle School Hazel Hunt were in attendance, cheering the students on during this momentous occasion. To cap off this spirited afternoon, the students—donning their new t-shirts—gathered for a big group photo. Congratulations, Class of 2034!
