MS Dance Club Shines

2024 Spring Dance Club members

Students in Classes 4-7 have been fostering friendships across grades and expanding their dance repertoire by participating in our Middle School Dance Club! The Club offers two after-school cycles – one six-week program from January-February and one twelve-week program from February-June.

Led by MS Dance teacher Jamia Jordan, students in both cycles delve deeply into a variety of dance genres from Horton technique, classical jazz, contemporary to hip hop. Guest choreographers and dancers – including members of Chapin’s Upper School Dance Club – frequently visit to share their expertise as well. During the more intensive spring cycle, each Class 7 member has the opportunity to choreograph a special piece. As a culmination, students perform an in-school recital for their MS peers and an evening show for families.

This year, the spring club debuted 10 student-choreographed pieces, all of which focused on working together, building confidence and supporting one another. Students and grownups alike were dazzled by their impressive performance
