Lower School Welcomes Grandparents & Special Friends!

Lower School girls were giddy with excitement on Friday, May 2 as they awaited the start of what would be an action-packed morning. A few floors down, over 325 grandparents and special friends were welcomed to Chapin (at two different times) by Head of School Suzanne Fogarty and Head of Lower School Thérèse Cruite, each of whom shared funny or enlightening anecdotes from each LS grade.

At their designated times, the special visitors headed to their Chapin student’s Homeroom where they engaged in various activities. Guests visiting Ms. David and Ms. Lin’s Kindergarten class, for example, enjoyed a read aloud of “Grandma’s Purse” by Vanessa Brantley-Newton. In Class 3, students and their guests took part in an engaging math activity called “Fraction Capture.” Class 1 students collaborated with their grandparents to create a playground for their sustainable, equitable and innovation community they are building, and Class 2 participated in a geometry activity.

Attendees were also able to participate in an abridged arts, science, drama, library, technology or Spanish lesson! The girls excitedly pointed out their work, hanging throughout the classroom and hallways, beaming with pride.

Our guests delighted in the fascinating happenings at Chapin and all that the girls are learning!
