Friday, June 9, marked the end of another incredible school year for Chapin students in Kindergarten through Class 7.
During Middle School’s Final Assembly, students enjoyed a lovely performance by the MS Chorus and heard heartfelt remarks from Head of MS Head Mary Rafferty. Next, students from Classes 4-7 were recognized for their achievements in Latin, Math, Technology and Humanities. The Assembly also featured a touching tribute by students from each grade to Ms. Rafferty, who is leaving after 18 wonderful years at Chapin. The morning concluded with a slideshow and a special gift for Class 7 to acknowledge their transition into a new division.
At the same time, Class 3 students participated in the annual "jumper signing," during which classmates (and teachers) autograph each other's Lower School uniforms as a special keepsake. Later that afternoon, Kindergarten through Class 3 gathered in the Assembly Room for their own Assembly. After each grade performed a special song, Class 3 received copies of the book “Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Day: 366 Elevating Utterances to Stretch Your Cranium and Tickle Your Humerus,” signed by all of their LS teachers. They, too, enjoyed a special slideshow in their honor as they soon embark on new adventures in Middle School next fall. To conclude the Assembly, LS Head Thérèse Cruite commenced a special dance party—Pharell’s “Happy” echoing from the speakers. Joy abounded as students and teachers (and Head of School Suzanne Fogarty) danced and laughed together.
Congratulations to all of our students on all that you have learned and achieved! We’ll see you in the fall!
