How does the Pope get elected? Is it cruel to cuddle a koala? Do you know what we lose when animals become extinct, if pets have feelings or what a dire wolf is?
Class 3 certainly does! After studying current events, third graders were given an assignment to select a recent article about something they’re interested in or passionate about. (Their teachers provided age-appropriate news sources.) The students spent time at home researching their over-arching topics and seeking answers to any questions they had before compiling their findings into a 3-5-minute presentation.
Each student shared with the class why their chosen topic matters to them personally and why it matters to the world, honing their public speaking skills. When finished, their classmates raised their hands to share what they enjoyed about the presentations or ask follow-up questions.
Great job, Class 3!
