Honoring Heroines at Chapin Book Fair

Last week, the Chapin Parents’ Association transformed the Assembly Room into a colorful, inspiring space for the annual Book Fair! A beloved Chapin tradition, this year's fair, "Heroines: Confident and Courageous," celebrated the many influential and inspirational women, both actual and fictional, who helped (and continue to help) shape our world.

Chapin welcomed 18 visiting authors, many of whom are Chapin alumnae and parents, during the fair, which began on November 13 with a festive, opening night cocktail reception. On and around the Assembly Room stage, authors signed their books and chatted with the parents, alumnae, faculty and friends in attendance as book lovers shopped and enjoyed tasty treats and enjoyed the evening’s special cocktail. Throughout the event, an acoustic group filled the Assembly Room with beautiful sound, while a face painter was on hand, to decorate the faces of the fair's many volunteers (and Dr. Hayot!).

The following day, students browsed the far-reaching assortment of titles during Student Visiting Day. While taking in the bold decorations, which included murals of some of the courageous female leaders and changemakers of our time, they had the opportunity to purchase books and even meet some of their favorite authors.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all who attended and supported this exciting event. Another big thanks to our visiting authors: Cristina Alger ’98, Sara Bliss ’91, Patricia Bosworth ’51, Tara Isabella Burton ’09, Doreen Cronin, Denise Dailey, Kate Greathead ’01, Vashti Harrison, Jen Hill, Jessie Janowitz, Caitlin Macy, Lauren Magaziner, Kristen Miglore, George O'Connor, Alan Richardson, Jill Santopolo, Sheetal Sheth, and Meg Wolitzer.
