Green and Gold spirit abounded during Chapin’s annual Homecoming festivities, held from October 10-14. The joyful tradition again brought together students from Kindergarten to Class 12, parents, professional community, alums and friends.
Leading up to the weekend’s events, Upper School students enjoyed spirit week-themed days culminating in Friday’s Green and Gold day. Kicking off the action-packed Chapin/Brearley athletic competitions on Wednesday was Varsity Tennis, who secured a 5-0 win!
Friday morning began with a spirited pep rally for our Middle and Upper School students in our sun-filled Athletic Center (AC), complete with a variety of games and our Varsity and Junior Varsity fall athletes running through their colorful banners. Later that afternoon, the Lower School enjoyed a special “carnival” on the roof and in the AC. To top off this fun event, Upper School students joined the Lower Schoolers who couldn’t have been happier!
At 3:15 p.m., Varsity Cross Country and numerous fans headed to Central Park for an exciting race before returning to Chapin for the JV Volleyball and Varsity Volleyball games, both of which were high-intensity matches – and Chapin victories!
Unfazed by the rain, spectators gathered at Asphalt Green on Saturday with festive signs and Green and Gold pompoms to cheer on our Varsity Field Hockey and Varsity Soccer teams.
A tremendous thank you to our Athletics/P.E. Department for their hard work in executing such a wonderful week; to the dedicated Parents’ Association Homecoming Co-Chairs and volunteers; and to our friends at Brearley!
