Beginning last Friday and continuing into the weekend, the Chapin community cheered for the Green-and-Gold during Homecoming 2018, a beloved fall tradition filled with exciting athletic events and spirited celebrations!
Community members from Chapin and Brearley (also celebrating Homecoming) made their way to the Brearley Field House on Friday afternoon to kick off the weekend with a festive pep rally led by their mascots, the Chapin Gator and the Brearley Beaver. Each participating team ran through paper banners to the applause and cheers of their families and friends at the rally, which was held between the junior varsity and varsity volleyball games that evening.
On Saturday morning, Chapin's varsity cross country team raced like champions through Central Park. Meanwhile, at Asphalt Green, Chapin's varsity field hockey team and soccer team played against Brearley. Pompoms and foam fingers in the air, Gator fans cheered on the teams while enjoying the beautiful weather and a Homecoming cookout, spirit wear sale, and prize raffle!
Michelle Caywood, Chapin's Director of Athletics, expressed her enormous thanks to the PA Homecoming Committee, the Athletic Association, the PE/Athletics Department, Brearley, and, most of all, the fans who came out in huge numbers to cheer on our athletes! Go Gators!
Here are the final Homecoming results:
JV Volleyball lost, 0-2
Varsity Volleyball won, 3-1
Cross Country won and had the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place finishers
