Rain didn’t spoil a thing for our Chapin Gators—Field Day was celebrated at Chapin through two fun-filled days of physical activity, Green and Gold spirit and friendly competition!
On Thursday, May 22, Class 4-12 students—decked out in vibrant Green and Gold, face paint, accessories and wigs—dispersed throughout 100 East End Avenue to engage in Field Day activities. Students filled Gyms 1, 6 and 11, the Black Box Theater and their classrooms, participating in wacky relays, trivia, gladiator, siege, volleyball, the coveted Green vs. Gold Tug, faculty/student relay and more! (Congratulations to our faculty/student relay winners: P.E. Teacher Greg Pinto, Assistant Athletic Director Betsy Matthews, Katie H. ’25, Ella S. ’25, Imaan M. ’28 and Juliet I. ’28!)
Following the competitions, the entire Middle and Upper School gathered in the Athletic Center, along with the faculty and staff, for the big announcement: The 2024-2025 Green/Gold champion.
Following a suspenseful lead-up from Head of US P.E. Mike Davis—during which he shared this was the closest year yet—the GOLD team erupted in cheers to celebrate their triumph. The day ended with seniors circling the rest of the US student community, with hands held tight, leading the singing of the School Song.
On Friday, May 23, Lower School headed to Asphalt Green for “The Greatest Show on Turf,” a.k.a their carnival-themed Field Day! Dressed in an array of colors, the girls joyfully ran from station to station. A little drizzle didn’t dampen their enjoyment as they cheered loudly for each other and their teachers running the Teacher Relay. At the event’s conclusion, Class 3 marked their last Field Day as Lower Schoolers by running through the beloved teacher tunnel.
Thank you to our Physical Education/Athletics Team for all of their hard work in preparing and executing two fabulous Field Days! We applaud all of our students on their sportsmanship, camaraderie and Chapin spirit!
