Despite rainy conditions on Thursday, May 23, spirits and smiles were still bright at 100 East End Avenue! Thanks to a quick pivot by our Physical Education/Athletics team, Middle and Upper School Field Day at Chapin was a blast. Utilizing our three gyms and rooftop play turf, the students – dressed in fabulous Green and Gold attire – engaged in various games like volleyball, ultimate frisbee, relay races, siege and more. For their last activity of the day, all Upper School students gathered in the Athletic Center for the annual tug-of-war competition – with Class 8 Golds emerging as the ultimate victors!
Last but not least, Middle School students joined their US peers for the big reveal: the team champion of the 2023-2024 school year. Following a drum roll, massive cheers erupted for the Green team, who narrowly defeated the Golds and will proudly hang their banner in the AC next year. Before parting ways, the seniors clasped hands to make a giant circle around Classes 4-11 and began singing the School Song together.
The next day, Kindergarten through Class 3 made their way to Asphalt Green for their Olympic-themed Field Day! With the sun shining overhead, students joyfully participated in a variety of activities like the javelin throw (our students used pool noodles), relays, 25-yard dash, limbo and more.
