Fall Athletics Recap

Fall Athletics Recap

Chapin’s fall sports teams had terrific seasons this year! Through hard work, determination, strength and skill, all of our teams made amazing strides in their leagues as well as in Athletic Association for Independent Schools (AAIS) and NYSAIS (New York State Association of Independent Schools) tournaments.

Our Varsity Tennis team, who had only one loss this season, was crowned AAIS tournament champions on October 25, defeating Spence to clinch their first tournament title in 16 years! Our JV Volleyball team, who boasted a strong season, battled hard over Nightingale to win the AAIS tournament championship and Varsity Field Hockey was the East End Tournament Champion for the fourth year in a row!

Our Varsity Volleyball team concluded their 15-4 season as AAIS tournament runners-up after a nail-biting championship game. Varsity Soccer also had an impressive showing this year, making it to the semi-finals of the AAIS tournament. Our Varsity Cross Country took 4th place at AAIS Championships, with three runners recording their fastest race time of the season and Class 8 student Fairfax W. placing in the top three!

Six Cross Country runners were selected to compete at the NYSAIS Championship—senior Sutton C. ’25, junior Hayden del V., sophomores Ale G. and Rain S. and eighth graders Amalia J. and Fairfax W. Fairfax placed in the top eight, advancing to the New York State Federation Meet.

Varsity Tennis players, sophomores Mana B. and Mira K. and eighth grader Ava W., were also chosen for their NYSAIS competition, with Mana advancing to the semi-final round.

We applaud all of our student-athletes and their coaches for their incredible performances this fall with a special shout to our senior athletes. A big congratulations, as well, to our 7/8 and 5/6 teams and coaching staff on great seasons! GO GATORS!
