In recognition of her outstanding, far-reaching work with the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS), Director of Athletics Michelle Caywood was honored by NYSAIS’s Athletic Association (NYSAISAA)* at a special ceremony earlier this year at Mohonk Mountain House.
Ms. Caywood, who has overseen Chapin Athletics since 2002 and has been involved with NYSAIS for many years, was nominated for this distinction – known as the “Appreciation Award” – by her Association colleagues, which made the honor especially meaningful.
“Michelle has generously shared her knowledge with anyone who needs help with computers or the website,” said Tammy Zazuri, the Director of Athletics at The Brearley School, who presented the award to Ms. Caywood. “Michelle’s dedication and commitment to her own school, the league and to NYSAIS have made us all better.”
During her significant tenure, Ms. Caywood has served on the Athletic Executive Committee (AEC) and has held a number of leadership positions within AAIS, including President, Vice President and Webmaster. She is also a longstanding member of the Athletic Directors Committee (ADC) and is highly regarded as a helpful, knowledgeable professional, a tireless advocate for athletes and coaches, and a caring mentor for new Athletic Directors.
Following Ms. Zazuri’s remarks, she handed Ms. Caywood an elegant translucent award, which had been engraved with this inscription: “Presented to Michelle Caywood in recognition of her efforts in supporting and advancing the services and programs of the NYSAIS Athletic Association.”
“I am grateful for the opportunity to work with so many dedicated professionals in the NYSAIS Athletic Association,” commented Ms. Caywood about her unexpected award. “Our collaborative efforts have benefited many student athletes across the state, and it has been a pleasure to be part of that important work.”
On behalf of the Chapin community, we extend heartfelt congratulations to Michelle Caywood on this well-deserved honor.
