Homecoming 2025, hosted this year by Chapin, was once again a week filled with joy, sportsmanship and unforgettable school spirit! Students in Kindergarten through Class 12, faculty, staff, parents and alumnae came together to celebrate the GREEN and GOLD and support our athletic teams playing throughout the week.
The annual Brearley vs. Chapin games commenced on Wednesday with the Varsity Tennis match held at Queens College. Back at Chapin, the Middle School “GLOWCO” Poster Contest began, showcasing students' out of the box designs and creativity. Thirteen posters — including a Gator playing each of the fall sports, colorful 3D green and gold designs and even a motorized Gator scoring a goal — hung outside of the Gordon Room for the whole community to see. The Professional Community (PC) had the opportunity to vote for the top three posters after which the final results were announced at our annual Pep Rally on Friday morning. Winners received either a Chapin pennant or Homecoming t-shirt!
At the start of the Pep Rally, the lights dimmed and the Athletic Center (AC) came alive as glow sticks in hands magically transformed the space. Contagious energy and excitement from the entire community filled the room as the Junior Varsity and Varsity sports teams ran into the gym, charging through their individual banners. Several trivia games and athletic competitions, including a floor hockey shootout, tennis juggling relay, bumper soccer, a volleyball challenge and a relay, were held for students and PC.
Toward the end of the school day, the Lower School Carnival began! K-3 students enjoyed games, coloring and dancing in the AC and on the rooftop turf. Dressed in full Green and Gold, the girls had fun with accessories like necklaces, pom poms and Chapin bows.
On Friday, Chapin’s Cross Country team raced in Central Park and JV and Varsity Volleyball played their matches in our “Sky Gym.” Chapin and Brearley fans of all ages, packed the course as well as the bleachers of the AC, cheering from the sidelines in their schools' respective colors. The Gator and Beaver mascots danced down the sidelines bringing out more fan excitement.
Saturday, our final day of Homecoming, was a sunny bright day at Asphalt Green. In addition to athletic competitions, there was a delicious barbeque, Chapin Prom bake sale, Gator Gear spirit sale run by Chapin’s Parents’ Association and the Chapin Alumnae Mix & Mingle, bringing the community together. Throughout the day our Varsity Soccer and Varsity Field Hockey played against Brearley with determination and teamwork. The LS “Fun Run” gave the younger fans the opportunity to make their way to the field for a friendly competition with their friends.
Chapin’s student-athletes showcased their strength and skill across the field and court, winning all six competitions against the Brearley Beavers!
We are grateful to Brearley for partnering with us to make Homecoming 2025 another wonderful and fun celebration!
Thank you to our Athletics/P.E. Department for their incredible work to make Homecoming possible, and to our Parent’s Association Co-Chairs, volunteers and to all the community members that came out to support our School!
