The Chapin community showed exuberant Green-and-Gold spirit during Homecoming 2017, a Chapin tradition for more than 20 years. Exciting athletic events and joyous celebrations filled the action-packed weekend.
Community members from Chapin and Brearley (also celebrating Homecoming) gathered at the Brearley Field House on Friday afternoon, October 13, to kick off the weekend with a pep rally led by their mascots, the Chapin Gator and the Brearley Beaver. The junior varsity team played before the rally, and the varsity volleyball team played Friday evening.
On Saturday morning, Chapin's varsity cross-country team took on a 5k race like champions. Over at Asphalt Green, Chapin's varsity field hockey team and the soccer team played against Brearley. While cheering on their teams Saturday afternoon, Gator fans mingled during a cookout and spirit wear sale.
Michelle Caywood, Chapin's Director of Athletics, remarked that this year's Homecoming was yet another wonderful expression of school spirit. She thanked the Parents' Association volunteers, the PE Department, Chapin's coaches and all the fans who came out to cheer the Gators.
