Claire Padilla ’22 is actively engaged in important research at Columbia University's Cerebrovascular Lab within the Department of Neurosurgery. Her ongoing clinical research project evaluates the comparative effectiveness of interventions involving the subdural and middle meningeal artery (MMA) when embolization precedes or follows subdural surgery. Furthermore, her work investigates the potential adverse consequences associated with aspirin use, a significant contributor to postoperative bleeding. Claire is also involved with Columbia Science Review, a scientific journalism publication at Columbia University, and has authored two research papers examining the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on stress levels, which were published in the Journal of Student Research. Her academic achievements include recognition as a National African American and Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar, a Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth Scholar, and A Better Chance Scholar.
