Back to School!

Back to School!

About 90 of Chapin’s alumnae and additional guests flooded through the doors of 100 East End Avenue for the fifth annual Back to School! Night on February 25. All ages and backgrounds of alumnae joined together in lively classroom discussions, and even a drum circle.

Alumnae were able to select from a variety of hour-long classes, each of which offered an assortment of ways to enliven the mind and body. Dance teacher Samantha Sherman '05 helped a group stretch out and relax in “Pilates,” while history teacher Esther Krell taught alumnae “The Classical Roots of the Italian Renaissance.” The musically inclined were able to get into the rhythm of “A Traditional African Drumming Workshop” with the Head of Music, Patricia Norchi, while Head of Upper School English Jonathan Wilcove led a lively discussion of “Passion and Form: Shakespeare’s Sonnets.” Equally enthusiastic were robotics team Middle School students, who showed alumnae the best ways to operate robots in “Robotics: Robosoccer and SumuBots.” In the library, members of Class 12 dazzled alumnae with their individual studies presentations.

After the hour of classes wrapped up, alumnae enjoyed each other’s company for a bit longer with refreshments. Their spirited conversations proved that this year’s Back to School! Night was a great success.
