Andrea Fernandez ’20

Andrea Fernandez, Class of 2020 and a current student at Harvard University, was the recipient of The Voyager Scholarship for Public Service, created by Barack Obama and Brian Chesky, Co-Founder and CEO of Airbnb. As recipients receive a stipend to pursue public service work experience before their senior year, this summer, Andrea volunteered with the nonprofit ENDA EL ALTO in Bolivia, an NGO that provides education and support programs to victims of abuse and vulnerable youth in the area. She helped implement self-defense classes for 40 girls, as well as lead a therapeutic art class. She received additional funding to extend the self-defense curriculum through the Harvard College Consulting Group, where she currently serves as the Vice Director of Operations. Andrea was also named a Harvard Cordeiro Research Fellow to pursue thesis research focused on health policy in Latin America and selected as Harvard College Fund Marshal for her class year. In this role, she will work to foster a culture of philanthropy and volunteerism amongst her peers through executing several engagement and educational efforts during senior year and as an alumna. Congratulations, Andrea!
