An evening with Anne-Marie Slaughter

An evening with Anne-Marie Slaughter

Dr. Anne-Marie Slaughter’s now famous article, “Why Women Still Can’t Have it All,” which was published last summer in the The Atlantic, has prompted a global discussion that continues to gain attention. Since the article’s publication, Dr. Slaughter has been thrust into the spotlight, urged to expand on and defend her premise.

Parents, alumnae, faculty, staff and students welcomed Dr. Slaughter to Chapin on the evening of May 1, where she addressed an audience of more than 300 guests. She offered insight into balancing caregiving and breadwinning, which must be solved by both women and men, and spoke about the impact of writing and sharing the article, which she described as life changing.

We are pleased to provide for Chapin community members a link to a video of her talk, which can be viewed by clicking here. Please note that you will have to log in.
