Alumnae Reunion 2015

Alumnae Reunion 2015

Over 400 guests returned to Chapin on April 16 and 17 for Alumnae Reunion 2015. Alumnae, who hailed from the Class of 1939 and the newly inducted Class of 2015, were delighted to gather on two beautiful spring days. The Class of 1965, who returned to mark their 50th Reunion, had a particularly impressive turnout with over 30 members in attendance. During the first day of Reunion, alumnae visited classes to observe current students engaging in their studies. Later on in the afternoon, they had the opportunity to tour the School and to attend special presentations. Alumnae were inspired by Middle School teacher and service-learning coordinator Trude Goodman and her current students’ presentation on Chapin's service-learning initiatives and the Sweet Readers program. This was followed by a Building Planning presentation led by M.J. Quigley, Associate Head of School, and Kathryn Hovis of NK Architects. In the evening, more returning alumnae flooded through the doors of the School to catch up with classmates at the annual cocktail reception.

On Friday morning, the Alumnae Association's Annual Meeting was held. The community heard from the 50th Reunion Class Speaker, Hildreth Bigham McCarthy '65, Alison Levitt, Class 12, President of Self-Government, as well as from Linden Havemeyer Wise '70 Chair, Board of Trustees and Head of School Dr. Hayot, who both spoke about the state of the school. In addition to singing the School song, a highlight for many was being led by the Class of 2015 in singing “Gaudeamis Igitur,” in honor of Charlie Walker. After the meeting, the group recessed to the Gordon Room to enjoy the traditional alumnae luncheon. With that, this year’s Alumnae Reunion drew to a close, though we hope to see many of the alumnae visit Chapin again soon!
