More than 400 guests joined in the Chapin Alumnae Reunion 2017 festivities held at the School on April 20 and 21. The two days began on Thursday when alumnae had the opportunity to visit classes, watch a sports practice, and observe Clubhouse, Chapin's after-school program. They were also invited to attend presentations on Lower School technology integration, Chapin's internship program, and the current building project. Upper School students also led alumnae on tours around the School. The day ended with classmates gathering in the Assembly Room to catch up with each other and their former teachers at a lively cocktail party, which also included a performance by the alumnae-parent singing group, the Later Gators.*
On Friday, alumnae attended the Alumnae Association Annual Meeting, where they listened to remarks by Alumnae Association President Bettina Goldstein Decker '88, whose term ends at the close of the school year and to whom the Alumnae Association expressed deep gratitude; Head of School Dr. Patricia T. Hayot; Chair of the Board of Trustees LeeAnn Black; 50th Reunion Class Speaker Sigourney Weaver '67; and President of Self-Government Lily McCann, a member of Class 12. The meeting also featured the formal induction of the Class 12 students (members of the Class of 2017) into the Alumnae Association. In addition, retiring faculty member Christine Naitove was honored for her 40 years of extraordinary service to Chapin.
The meeting ended with all guests standing and singing the School Song. The traditional Reunion luncheon, held in both the Gordon and Berendsen Rooms, capped off this spectacular celebration.
As Reunion 2017 came to a close, alumnae were given flowering African violets as a beautiful reminder of the joyful occasion and the Chapin years that shaped their lives.
