A host of Chapin’s classrooms kept their lights on well past the last students had gone home on February 27. That’s because more Chapin students were on their way, and those students happened to be alumnae.
For the third consecutive year, Chapin hosted “Back to School!,” an evening of classes taught by Chapin teachers for Chapin alumnae. Over 130 guests returned to 100 East End Avenue to take courses on Sufi poetry, writing, robotics, modern dance, watercolor painting, and the history of the Progressive movement and Maria Bowen Chapin’s role in it. Three members of Class 12 also presented their individual studies, which have been part of Chapin’s curriculum since 1976, for interested alumnae.
The alumnae not only had a chance to refresh their lives in Chapin’s classrooms, but to catch up with friends and faculty members — some of whom were their teachers when they were at Chapin — at a reception hosted after the classes had ended.
