Transgender and Non-Binary Student Statement History
A truly welcoming school creates a learning environment that prioritizes belonging for all students, faculty, staff, alums and family members, including those who are transgender, non-binary and gender nonconforming.
In the Spring of 2019, the Board of Trustees shared the newly written Transgender and Non-Binary Student Statement, which asserted that no students will be asked to leave the school upon gender transition, with the professional community, parents, and Upper School students. The statement was also added at that point to the School’s website. Chapin’s prioritization of fostering a community of belonging is shared with all new community members.
