College Guidance Stories

Kibriyaa Morgan ’16

"Hi! My name is Kibriyaa Morgan ’16 and I attend Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. I began my Chapin career as a kindergartener in 2003... and before I knew it, I was beginning my college process during my junior year. From mock SAT/ACT testing, to weekly meetings with College Guidance, to writing workshops and bootcamps, my college process was exciting, frustrating, and ultimately rewarding.

Initially, I had my eyes set on one particular school and I decided to pursue the early decision option. Retrospectively, I am fortunate that things didn't work out in early decision; I was forced to open my mind to the other incredible schools on my list -- Davidson was one of them!

When an admissions representative from Davidson came to Chapin for an informational session, I instantly fell in love with the school. It was small and intimate, and had liberal arts and Division I athletics. As an avid sports fan that loves many different academic disciplines, Davidson seemed like the perfect fit -- and it was! In January of my senior year, I applied Early Decision II to Davidson; by February I was a Wildcat!

After finishing my first year in North Carolina, I can say that I absolutely made the right choice in choosing Davidson. I currently have a job on campus where I do marketing, graphic design and social media for all of our Division I sports teams. I recently joined the first historical black sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and I plan to declare my major in Economics by the end of my sophomore year. I love the people, professors and warm weather. My college process was extremely gratifying and I will always be thankful for the way in which Chapin prepared me."
