Kam Allen earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the College of Idaho, a master’s degree in English from Boise State University and a master’s degree in gifted education from the University of the Pacific. She has participated in dozens of professional development seminars including nine summer sessions at Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, numerous workshops focused on diversity and identity, and extensive reading about the brain and growth mindset. Her work at Chapin includes coordinating the literacy program, scheduling all classes and special day events, testing kindergarten applicants, and coordinating the Associate Teacher program. On weekends and during school vacations, she visits nursing homes and hospitals with her service dog, Pippa. She also enjoys entertaining, traveling, reading, and following the Yankees. Mrs. Allen has been teaching for over 40 years. She came to Chapin in 1997.
