Prasad Akavoor earned his bachelor’s degree in physics at the University of Calicut, India, and his master’s and PhD degrees in physics at Indiana University. Prior to coming to Chapin in 1996, Dr. Akavoor worked as a research associate and later as a visiting assistant professor of physics at Indiana University. At Chapin, he has taught physics, engineering, chemistry, astronomy, electronics and computer programming. Dr. Akavoor enjoys singing Indian semi-classical and classical songs, reading, and running. He lives in Edison, New Jersey, with his wife and three daughters.
