Martine Courtial-Eisner earned her bachelor's degree (Licence) in English language studies at the Université of Montpellier, France, where she also completed her master's degree in applied linguistics. She went on to the Université of La Sorbonne in Paris to complete her CAPES, an advanced French degree in the pedagogy of foreign language teaching. Ms. Courtial-Eisner has taught English and French as a second language in France and England, as well as in the United States, where she has lived and worked since 1982. She has been at Chapin since 1992 and is a language teacher and Class 9 supervisor. Ms. Courtial-Eisner continues her professional development by attending specialized conferences and keeping abreast of cultural developments in French-speaking countries through travel, workshops and readings. In addition to literature and cinema, she loves the outdoors and seizes any opportunity she can to go hiking or skiing. Her love of her native Provence, which she visits regularly, has helped her become a decent cook, specializing in the Mediterranean diet!
