Special Events & Trips

Any Upper School student will tell you that Chapin involves hard work, but it’s not without opportunities for play. Students enjoy themselves at events and on trips that take them outside the city. And through the elected Club representatives for each grade level, students have a say in how they have their fun.

Each year, Class 12 “Big Sisters” board buses with their Class 8 “Little Sisters” for a trip to the Great Adventure amusement park in New Jersey. The entire Upper School is invited to the Chapin Ski Trip, a two-day outing of skiing and snowboarding that happens over Martin Luther King weekend.

Special events include a semiformal dance sponsored by the senior class, film nights, the prom, a senior class overnight lock-in, performance events and open-mike nights, and these sometimes include students from other schools throughout the city. Chapin also holds Club Nights for Upper School students that allow the girls to congregate at school in the evening on a night without homework and to enjoy snacks and each other’s company.
