Transportation
Many
transportation options are available for students to travel
to and from Chapin. Parents may choose the form of transportation
that suits their family best. Here is a summary of some services
that Chapin families currently use.
Atlantic
Express Bus
For
families who live within a
five-mile radius of Chapin
- Parents
contact Mr. Sullivan or Mrs. Kaissar at Chapin
to arrange for use of this
service.
- Service
is provided, free of charge,
by the New York City Board
of Education.
- There are only a few days on which the Board of Education does not provide service. On those rare occasions, parents will need to arrange for alternate transportation to and from Chapin.
- Routes
are determined by the Board
of Education and have been convenient
for our families.
Confirmed
routes will be published in late August.
- There
must be at least 11 confirmed
Chapin girls on each route
or the service will be cancelled.
- Students on the bus may consist
of Chapin girls plus other children who attend schools in the
area.
- This
bus is available to Kindergarten
girls only in the morning.
- Girls
may not bring play dates on
their assigned bus unless the
play date is also a rider on Atlantic Express.
- There are no chaperones.
- Students who ride the bus are not eligible for MetroCards.
Cupie Bus Service
For families who live between 57th and 96th Streets, from East End Avenue to Fifth Avenue
- Parents contact Ms. Lesia Griffin at Chapin to arrange for use of this service.
- There are three bus routes that have stops located primarily on Park Avenue.
- There is a fee for the bus, determined by ridership.
- A chaperone is provided for each bus.
Round-trip service is offered to students in Kindergarten through Class 6. Class 6 girls have the option ride the bus one-way. Buses for Middle School girls in Classes 4 through 6 leave Chapin at 3:15 p.m. and 4:05 p.m. During part of the school year, there is also an additional 4:15 p.m. bus on Thursdays for Class 6 Intramurals students.
Emmanuel
Van Service
For
families who live in Manhattan and would like door-to-door service
- Parents
contact the Emmanuel Van Transportation
Company directly to arrange
for use of this service.
- There is a fee for this service.
- There
are no chaperones.
Friendly
Bus
For
families who live in the Bronx and would like door-to-door service
- Parents
contact Reverend Sutton directly
to arrange for use of this
service. The fee will be determined at that time.
- Service
has been reliable and accommodating.
- There
are no chaperones.
