Emergency Procedures
The
Chapin School has designed procedures
to minimize the chance of emergency situations and to reduce the
chance of injury or damage should an emergency occur. Two experienced
professionals, Plant Director Tom Palermo and Security Director
Gene Sullivan, oversee Chapin’s emergency response plans
and revisit them often to ensure that they continue to match the
safety needs of students, staff, and visitors to the building.
Chapin
holds regular, orderly drills
to familiarize students and staff with fire and other emergency
procedures. The school owns defibrillation equipment, located
in several locations throughout the building, and several staff
members are trained in its use. In addition to the school’s
full-time nurse, Michele Di Corato, R.N., many Chapin staff members
are also trained in CPR and can administer first aid.
