Thank you for your interest in The Chapin School. We welcome you to our website and look forward to guiding you through our admissions process. For over a century, Chapin has dedicated itself to providing an exceptional education for girls. Academic excellence, personal integrity, and community responsibility are all integral to the Chapin experience. The admissions committee seeks to enroll students who will contribute positively to the life of the school through their motivation, intellectual curiosity and willingness to try new things. We believe that an equitable, inclusive, collaborative community provides the strongest environment for learning, and we are committed to maintaining diversity of all kinds. Expecting and requiring respect for others is a hallmark of our educational process. Chapin approaches each decision with a deep sense of intentionality and purpose. As a recent visitor to Chapin expressed, “There is so much going on here, but it all seems to ‘make sense.’”
We are a school that encourages openness to innovation and flexible thinking. Chapin girls are passionate about learning, excited by new ideas, and curious about the world around them. There is a true culture of participation in all ways at Chapin. As our current president of student government attests, whether Chapin students are in the school cafeteria, hallways, or on their commute home, they talk to one another about the many intriguing things they are learning in their classes. In this way, a Chapin girl is a joyful and engaged scholar who takes ownership over her learning and connects with her peers through a mutual love of education.
Each girl who studies at 100 East End Avenue builds a clear understanding of herself and her world by thinking independently, collaborating with others, and cultivating compassion. In a caring community that provides academic challenge, Chapin girls are enthusiastic learners and responsible citizens who go on to thrive and lead in the world. Chapin teachers have frequently said that they learn as much from the students as the students do from them. In this way, the spirit of academic excellence that exists at Chapin is an “all-in-this-together” feeling—while independent thinking is fully valued, we are all working together towards this sense of excellence.
We invite you to experience the vibrant spirit of Chapin as you read about our close-knit K-12 community. Please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call our office at 212.570.4951 if you have any questions about Chapin. We are delighted to meet you and your family.
