Teachers in the Lower School are experienced and dynamic educators who provide students with a firm foundation in basic skills and good work habits. Teachers educate the whole child, paying close attention to each student’s social, emotional and physical well-being.
Collaboration is a hallmark of teaching in the Lower School. Teachers work closely with colleagues, providing differentiated instruction to ensure that students' individual needs are met. They share progress with parents on a regular basis and value the partnership between home and school. Many engage in professional development opportunities during the summer months, attending local workshops, for example, or traveling abroad to research a new country for inclusion in the curriculum. No matter the subject taught, Lower School teachers help each student achieve her potential, infusing the Chapin learning experience with joy and enthusiasm.
