Know any great orators?
Sometimes we’re lucky enough to know people whose experiences are so fascinating that when they talk about their lives or careers, it’s enough to make us forget about that cup of coffee in front of us and just listen, transfixed, to their tales.
These kinds of people are invaluable to us, cold coffee notwithstanding. We encourage you to think about how they could be invaluable to Chapin students, too.
A newly formed committee is in search of people who might speak at Chapin and inspire a new generation of humanitarians, philosophers, scientists, builders, explorers, writers, social theorists, athletes or whatever other pursuit a young girl might find interesting.
The key is that we hope they’ll be people you know — and to whom you can connect us.
The committee’s philosophy is that when looking for presenters, we ought to look first within our own community. Could our parents, alumnae, faculty and others could put the school in touch with accomplished, vibrant people who are willing to share a morning or afternoon with our students? Through guest speakers, we can tap into the extraordinary resources of the Chapin community.
We are looking for speakers on the following topics, to start:
- New York City and countries around the world (for Lower School audiences)
- The humanities (for Middle School audiences)
- Any topics of interest that reinforce or broaden our curriculum (for Upper School audiences)
- Finance and entrepreneurship (for alumnae audiences)
If you have relationships that you could put to work on Chapin’s behalf, please contact the committee at speakers@chapin.edu. Your e-mail will reach the committee’s parent and alumnae representatives: Jillian Neubauer, Rabia de Lande Long, Alexandra Galasso ’03 and Rebecca Ascher Walsh ’86.
