The Chapin Community
The defining aspect of a Chapin education is the sense of community and togetherness experienced by everyone who is connected with the school: parents, teachers and, most importantly, the girls. There are community bonds among Chapin students that transcend grade levels, backgrounds, personal opinions and any other potential obstacle; underneath it all, they are Chapin girls, and that is more important than anything else. The concept of connectedness is inherent to the school culture and is emphasized throughout the life skills curriculum. It is seen in the Upper School town meetings, community service programs in which Upper School girls work with Lower School ones, and the tradition of assemblies that bring Kindergarteners through Class 12 girls together in one room. The feeling of togetherness that defines Chapin lasts with students long after they leave the school, lasting decades into their lives as alumnae.
