Even at a young age, Georgette Wilson ’85 knew that she wanted to become a veterinarian. Her career path has led her all over the country, from the University of Pennsylvania to Cornell University to Pfizer, Inc., where she now works in the animal-health division.
Helen Allen Smith ’90 studied art in London, Rome and New York before founding the PULSE Contemporary Art Fair in 2005. She travels extensively to meet with artists, galleries and curators who contribute artwork to the fair, which is now held three times per year, in Miami, New York and London.
Having two celebrated Byzantine scholars graduate in the same class is a rare thing, but that is the case with Nancy Patterson Sevcenko ’56 and Alice-Mary Maffry Talbot ’56. Their careers have been intertwined in many ways. They both completed graduate studies in Greece and at Columbia University, and contributed to and edited The Oxford Dictionary of Byzantium, an award-winning three-volume compendium of knowledge. Their careers continue to be as distinguished as their pasts.
