Chapin Culture & Community

Chapin is proud of the trust that exists between older and younger girls, between teachers and students, between families and the school. Everyone at Chapin understands the importance of respect, consideration and good citizenship, and the school consistently reinforces these principles.

Through school traditions that accommodate innovation, Chapin students have a shared identity as well as freedom to express their own personalities. The customs and cultures of all Chapin families become part of the fabric of the school environment. Chapin retains its all-school assemblies, known as News and Prayers, and uses them to address contemporary issues. Girls of all ages share a single building, a hallmark of Chapin since its inception, and constantly explore new cross-divisional projects. Middle and Upper School girls compete in basketball, badminton, volleyball and more as members of Green and Gold spirit teams that were established in the early 1900s. At Chapin, traditions thrive in an atmosphere where change and evolution are valued equally.
