The Chapin athletics program spans three settings: a varied and energetic classroom program, skill-building intramural activities, and competitive interscholastic teams that hone students' abilities in 13 sports. In each of these situations, every student experiences a sense of accomplishment and self-improvement while working toward physical fitness.
Each girl's participation in individual and team sports encourages leadership, teamwork, good sportsmanship and a positive attitude towards physical activity. Regular physical education and gymnastics classes begin in Kindergarten; offerings expand as students move into the Middle and Upper Schools to include classes, intramurals, varsity and junior varsity sports, and after-school electives. Look into Chapin's four gymnasiums during the school day and you will find students practicing tumbling passes, learning yoga, playing full-court basketball, or perfecting their sets and spikes. Visit our off-campus athletic facilities, such as the Asphalt Green, and you will see girls improving their backstroke, playing soccer or field hockey, or engaged in a tennis match. The Chapin athletics program is rewarding for students of every athletic interest.
