A Magical Chapin Book Fair

A Magical Chapin Book Fair

Last week, the Chapin Parents’ Association transformed the Assembly Room into a Hogwarts-inspired School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the annual Book Fair! A Chapin tradition, this year’s fair celebrated the 20th anniversary of the publication of the beloved children’s book “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”

Chapin welcomed 11 visiting authors on November 14, many of whom are Chapin alumnae and parents, during the opening night cocktail reception for a special book signing. Underneath a sky of glowing candles, feathered owls (pretend, of course!) and Nimbus 2000s, Chapin parents, alumnae and faculty browsed tables of books and enjoyed magical treats prepared by Chapin’s food services staff. A magician was even on hand, sharing his tricks and illusions with the crowd! On and around the Assembly Room stage, the visiting authors signed their books and chatted with fans. The authors in attendance were: Lise Arin, Tonya Bolden ’76, Meg Braff, Jenny Fran Davis ’13, Stacey Griffith, Martha Hall Kelly, Kirk Henckels, Booth Moore ’90, Jessica Seinfeld, Anne Walker ’91, and Alexandra Wolfe ’98.

The following day, students browsed the exciting assortment of titles during Student Visiting Day. While taking in the magical decorations, they had the opportunity to purchase books and even meet some of their favorite children’s authors, like Lisa Graff, Susan Verde and Rachel Vail.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all who attended and supported this exciting event!
